We had a tremendous pop-up event last week, with Nick Roy and Professor Patricia Riddell. Unusually we don’t have a recording to share, so we have asked our two presenters to share any final thoughts, invitations or links with you by way of follow-up.
For me personally, I was just delighted to see two old friends and colleagues re-united in this powerful and topical session, that held the group enthralled right up till our time ran out. I loved that this was a session that grew out of Nick’s personal angst over the amount of nonsense and overclaim regularly springing up on social media about the insights of neuroscience for organisational work and leadership development.
Nick and Tricia walked us through some of the claims they’ve seen in recent times, and steadily stripped away the myth and revealed what the current state of science says. It was an entertaining, insightful and powerful event, and I am glad our two guests agreed to host it for us.
We asked Nick and Patricia for their closing words, invitations, or links for you all – and here they are:
We thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to meet with you all and debate the role of neuroscience in organisational learning. We also hope that we managed to persuade people that with some care in choosing your source, there is much to be gained from a better understanding of the brain and the contribution neuroscience can make to Leadership and OD.

Also, don’t forget to check out Patricia’s book Neuroscience of Leadership Coaching and watch for a new book in the spring on Neuroeffective Leadership.
Our next pop-up will be on Thursday 5 December and will feature consulting pioneer Bill Critchley, who many of our followers will know as a coach, consultant and teacher. He has recently published a legacy archive featuring a collection of his writing over the years, all available without charge in a deeply generous offering to us all. In our pop-up he will be in conversation with John Higgins, whose connection to Bill goes back many years. It’s going to be a fascinating exploration of Bill’s life and work, and you can find out more about it and sign up on the link here.
We look forward to seeing you there!
