Well, here is it. The first series of the About Time podcast is now launched.
I’m thrilled at the early feedback from my guests and the listeners and viewers kind enough to trial some of the episodes for us.
The aim is to introduce some of the people who have inspired, influenced and impacted my life over the past 25 years. The full series will feature colleagues and collaborators, writers and artists, and leaders from around the world.
The first series has been a joy to make, catching up with brilliant people doing tremendous work. There are some fascinating conversations, and each one of them has generously provided links where helpful to follow up ideas and books referred to in the conversations.
Series One includes lively and lovely conversations with:
Philippa Hardman on 20 years of collaboration and doing work that is alive.
Geoff Mead on the power of story, shifting stories and creative writing as a developmental intervention.
Michael Chaskalson on a lifetime of bringing Buddhist work into organisational and individual practice, and on his new book about awakening.
Helen Sieroda, GameShift partner and founder of Wise Goose coaching, on coaching, depth psychology, deep ecology and the work the world needs now.
Alex Steele on jazz, improvisation, the juicy edges of change and the link to positive psychology.
Roger Kneebone, surgeon, GP, surgical educator, and innovator at the frontiers of education using art, embroidery, magic, puppetry and more.
Mark Harmer, on the power of playful exploration, deep improvisation and participative music making.
Helena Clayton on love, death and radical ways of growing hope in harmony with the living world in a time of meta-crisis and turbulence.
Kai Peters, higher education leader, and formerly CEO of Ashridge, on leading in higher education today, and the role and future of business schools.
Steve Clark, founder of Strive for Five, on living and thriving with stage 4 cancer, patient advocate, and activist for shifting the mindsets, language and story around Stage 4 cancer to release new ways of living positively with cancer.
Phoebe Tickell, founder of Moral Imagination, developer of Imagination Activists, and the power of imagination to reshape the future and breathe life into new possibilities.
Minni Jain, co-founder of The Flow Partnership, on restoring rivers, using indigenous knowledge and participation with community action in India, the UK and beyond.
The series closes with a conversation with Philippa interviewing Chris , reflecting on the first series through the lens of his 2016 walk on the South West Coast Path, a reflection timed to meet the release of the film of Raynor Winn’s novel, The Salt Path. Many of the insights and reflections from Chris’ 1000km silent walk, and the reason he made that journey, are powerfully reflected in the themes of Series One of About Time.
I hope you enjoy these conversations. Please do offer feedback and follow or subscribe to the series. Series two and three are already in production and will be launched during the summer.
Finally, massive thanks to Richard Nichols, who has produced and edited the About Time series. Without Richard’s contribution this About Time series wouldn’t be possible.
